Diverse Newspaper Clippings

Alaska’s LGBT Community has always been up to something newsworthy. While much of what we do is part of something bigger or a longer-lasting project, there are some incredible episodes of one-off achievement, silliness, or just plain noteworthiness that need to be shared far and wide.

We call that the Diverse Newspaper Clippings, and invite our friends with short attention spans to dig right in and enjoy.

Tom Rachal

Tom Rachal is an active member of the Anchorage Gay Community, having arrived in Alaska in 1970. His current contribution to Out in Alaska for webite publication is a newspaper interview regarding gay life in 1970’s Anchorage.

Given his experience in Alaska, we have asked Tom for additional documents with his perspective on the background and operations of PFlag of Alaska, the coordination of the Alaska Gay and Lesbian HelpLine, and highlights of his time as a board member of the Gay Community’s Identity, Inc. We look forward to additional interesting contributions from Tom.
